Phishing Hotline

Active Reports:  Email request for a copy of the member directory appearing to come from Pastor Daniel. The 'from' address is clearly not Pastor Daniel, and requests for member lists/directories should not be responded to in general.

Phishing is a type of online crime where attackers attempt to trick individuals into providing sensitive personal information. These attempts often appear to be from friends, family members, or even your pastor.
Common tactics include urgent emails or text messages asking you to verify your account information, reset a password, or confirm a purchase, or fake websites designed to trick you into entering your personal information.
This "hotline" is for CTK members to inquire about a message you have received that you are unsure of, or to report phishing attempts that may need to be shared with the community (a message appearing to come from a CTK staff member for example).

Here are some red flags to watch out for so you can recognize phishing:
  • Unexpected Requests: Be wary of unsolicited requests for personal or financial information, including requests for contact information of other church members.
  • Spelling and Grammar Errors: Many phishing emails contain spelling mistakes or poor grammar.
  • Suspicious Links: Hover over links or email addresses to see the actual source before clicking or responding.

You may report a suspected issue by clicking the "File a Report" button below, or by sending an email to phishing@ctkcary.com. A member of the CTK IT team will follow up with you.
