Phishing Examples

How can you identify this as phishing?
- Email program has already identified it as suspected spam.
- Email address is suspicious. If you can't see the actual from address in your email try hovering over the link with your mouse.
- Grammar or spelling issues.

Why should you be suspicious of this message?
- Financial request for you to make changes in an email. These are best handled in-person, or at least from a secure website.
- A real email address is not available since this message was sent via a website form. Even if the name appears to be someone you know (names removed in this example), you don't know who sent this.
- Phishing and scam messages are often sent as urgent.
